4. What is an ABN/IRD number, and how do I get one?

ABN literally stands for Australian Business Number. Like a Tax File Number (TFN), it is a unique number that identifies your business to the tax office and other official bodies. There is no cost involved when applying for an ABN and they can be applied for online. You can either ‘click’ the link provided; www.ato.gov.au/businesses/default.asp?menu=43064 or alternatively you can apply off line through forms available at the Australian Taxation Office [ATO] or your tax agent.

Similarly for those applying from New Zealand, you will need to provide us with an IRD number prior to being eligible for assignments. If you don’t already have one simply ‘click’ on the following link; www.ird.govt.nz/forms-guides/title/forms-i/ir595-form-individualirdapp.html?id=righttabs to be directed to their website where you will then be able to download the application form. Once you have provided us with a number you will then be eligible for assignments.

5. How is work assigned?

You can either ‘click’ on the link at the bottom of the email notifications we send you, or you can go to the ‘Job Search’ page on our website. This will require your Username and Password.

The Job Search page will bring up a list of assignments that may be of interest to you. Once you have selected an assignment simply ‘click’ on the link to display the relevant information. If you are interested in applying for the job, select the ‘Yes, I Accept’ button, [this confirms that you’ve agreed to the Terms and Conditions], prior to submitting your application by pressing the ‘Apply’ button at the bottom of the job page. That's all there is to it!

As a general rule WOW will accept a maximum of three applications per assignment, where only one agent is required. Once this number has been received an agent will be selected and the job deemed filled. If for any reason the agent selected is unavailable, a selection from the remaining two applicants will be made. All agents will receive email notification as to the outcome of those assignments applied for.

As many ISP’s may consider our emails to be ‘spam’ it is advised that you lower your spam settings on your system or include our email address as ‘friendly’ in your outlook settings.

[NB: WOW Management will at all time reserve the right to select the agent it feels is best suited for the assignment].

7. Do I have to accept an assignment?

You are under NO obligation to accept assignments. If you are sent an assignment but do not wish to participate, simply ignore the email you are sent. A grace period of 12hrs will be given to all Agents in which to ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ assignments, after which time if the assignment has not been accepted, it will then be published on our website as per normal ‘Job listings’.

Though under no obligation, WOW will at all times reserve the right to review its relationship with those Agents who continually reject worked offered to them.

8. How long will each assignment take?

Assignments will vary in length depending on what is required by the client.
Contributing factors include;

  • Minimum number of surveys required by the client
  • Volume of questions incorporated in the survey
  • ‘Day Part’ – The times [often split] during a day or days in which the surveys are to be collected

NB: - Though assignment duration can vary jobs posted on our website will generally include the hours that an agent will be required. As a rule all agents are paid a minimum booking fee of 4 hours. Should you require further information, simply email our offices; agentsupport@wowfeedback.com or contact our office by phone – 1300 969 669.

9. I have completed my assignment what do I do?

There are two tasks an agent must complete once they have finished their assignment. The first (if the assignment involves a retailer) involves notifying store management that they have completed the job. The second is to contact our office [or field operative] so that we can then verify the information. Once both tasks are completed you are free to leave the location.

NB: Remember, where retailers are involved you will need to a make a note of the managers’ name for validation purposes.

10. I have accepted an assignment that I am unable to carry out. What should I do?

Whether you applied for, [and were successful] or were sent an assignment you then accepted. If circumstances arise that result in your inability to carry out an assignment on a specified day, you must contact our office immediately or call on the after hours number provided.

A minimum notice period of 48 hours is required prior to the assignment’s scheduled date, [unless extenuating circumstances dictate otherwise]. This will allow Management time to find a suitable replacement for you. Failure by an agent to notify management prior to the scheduled job date may result in their immediate removal from our data base and any future engagement with WOW.

Remember! Cancellations are not only costly but are extremely inconvenient to all parties, especially clients.

NB: Agents who neglect to advise management of these circumstances will be permanently removed from our database.

11. What if I couldn’t complete an assignment but it wasn’t my fault?

If you arrive at a job location; E.g.: retail outlet, or other venue and they are closed preventing you from completing your assignment as a general rule you will still be entitled to full payment. Reasons other than this will be considered on a case-by-case basis but will ultimately be at the discretion of WOW and WOW management.

Go Back

12. Can I still be a WOW agent if I work full-time or study?

Yes - Many assignments are conducted on weekends or after hours; you need only select assignments that are most suitable for you.

Go Back

13. How do I submit the answers from my assignment?

Your answers are transmitted electronically [via the PDA] there is no need for data-input. Once you have completed your assignment and have closed the application [software program] the data simply transmits to WOW’s server where after processing it then becomes available to the client.

Go Back

Go Back

15. How and when do I get paid and what is required?

Payment for completed assignments is by E.F.T. [Electronic Funds Transfer] and will be made directly into an account of your choosing, [Bank, Credit Union etc...] details of which you will be required to provide. Payments are processed fortnightly on a Friday with exception of those assignments completed on the same day as these will be processed on the Friday of the following pay period. Payment for completed assignments will only be processed once an invoice outlining the details of the assignment[s] has been received; I.e.: dates, times, client[s] name. No exceptions with regard to payment[s] will be made without first providing an invoice.

16. I was sent an email notification of an assignment but when I accessed the site the assignment was no longer posted. What happened to it?

There are two main reasons this may occur. Firstly, the assignment posted may have had numerous responses and the positions have since been filled. Or, the posting was made in error and has since been removed.

Go Back

19. What banking details are required?

It is your responsibility to ensure that all banking details submitted to WOW are true and correct. Further, so that payments can be made to your nominated institution we require the following;

If you supply incorrect bank details then payment will be delayed. To ensure this does not occur please make certain that the details you provide are correct.

Go Back

21. Will I be charged for supplying incorrect banking details?

If we have tried unsuccessfully to process your payment and our bank returns the electronic transfer - a fee of $2.50 [AUD] will be deducted from your due payment, plus a $10.00 [AUD] admin fee by WOW. The fee charged by the Bank is typical of most financial institutions for incorrect E.F.T. transactions. Our fee is for the time spent chasing down the error.

22. How much work will I receive?

Work will fluctuate and can depend on a variety of factors; the areas in which you are prepared to travel too and from to work, the availability of assignments in these areas, the availability and flexibility you allow when applying for assignments, and finally the quality of answers you are able to solicit from respondents during interviews. As the amount of work provided by WOW may fluctuate, we suggest that any income derived from your association with WOW be viewed as supplementary income, not regular income that you could rely on.

Go Back

23. How far will I be asked to travel?

As a rule, all agents must be prepared to travel up to a 30 kilometre radius from where they live. Hourly rates include any ‘travel allowance’ up to this distance. However, should this distance be exceeded, then a travel allowance [usually 1 hour at the current hourly rate] will be paid in addition to the standard job fee payable.

Go Back

24. Is there a cost involved in becoming a WOW Agent?

NO - there is no cost involved in becoming a WOW Agent.

Go Back

25. What happens with tax?

Firstly, it is important to note that as a WOW agent you are neither a salary nor wage earner but instead an Independent Contractor as a result you are therefore solely responsible for your own tax. WOW does not deduct any tax from payments as you are not classified an employee of WOW. As a self-employed ABN/IRD number holder you will be required to deduct your own tax. If you are registered for GST and earn over $75k p/a you will be paid an additional 10% on your invoice amount to cover this cost. However additional payments for GST will only be made upon proof of GST registration, [I.e.: a copy of your GST registration certificate]. If you require further information we advise that you contact either your accountant, the A.T.O. or Inland Revenue Department.

28. Am I required to notify WOW if there are any changes to my personal or banking details?

‘Yes’ – All details held by WOW must be ‘current’ especially your banking information. Any transfer errors made by us as a result of an agent not notifying us of account changes will incur a processing fee plus any retrieval fee as charged by the relevant financial institution [the Bank]. As your personal details also include contact details; ie: email, phone etc…it is vital that we are kept up to date. Failure to do so may result in your removal from our agent data-base.

Go Back

29. How many assignments can I apply for in a day?

There is no limit to the number of assignments you can apply for in a day. However, there is a limit to the number you will be able to complete. As previously explained, [Point 8] the duration of an assignment is governed by many factors.
